I read a news story just now about Andrew Wyeth dying this week. And of course, Robert Rauschenburg died this last spring (on the very day that I gave a presentation about him in my Printmaking class). It makes me sad that the last remaining great artists of the Twentieth Century are beginning to die. You see their works in museums and catalogs and it always surprising to see that they are still living (even more so if they are still actively creating work). These men and women rank up there with Van Gogh, DaVinci, and Monet for what they have done for the art world and it is so cool to know they are still with us. And then you hear of them dying and it hurts to know that with them goes such creativity and talent that we won't see again. But as artists we can only hope to one day impact so many people as these men have!
